Bach
and Before For Strings
Bach and
Before For Strings is a versatile collection of 19
Bach chorales. The chorales range in difficulty from
easy to very sophisticated and are suitable for year
two through high school string orchestras. Great for
warm-up and teaching, as well as performance!
Each chorale is presented in the Kjos Multiple Option
Scoring System with all four voice parts (soprano,
alto, tenor and bass) presented in each part book.
This allows for unprecedented teaching opportunities.
Unison playing will help develop the quality of a
string orchestra’s sound, and is the foundation of
playing in tune. As additional parts are added,
students learn the nuances of harmony and expressive
playing.
Students love playing chorales because they sound so
good! Teachers will love using the power of unison
playing and four part harmony to develop superior
intonation and expressive playing in their string
ensembles. |

First
Things First
First Things First is a collection of traditional folk
songs, classical themes, rounds and original pieces
representing over ten countries and styles from around
the world. The compositions are arranged to be
extremely versatile in meeting the needs of younger
beginners in an elementary level string orchestra.
Each instrument has the melody line, as well as an
additional harmony line. By using all the parts, a
string orchestra is achieved. With the addition of the
piano, any size string class can successfully perform
these selections.

First
Things First S’More
Elementary string students will love these 24 fun and
exciting arrangements! As the second volume in this
series, it is slightly more advanced than First Things
First, and complements any beginning string method.
The music found in this collection is appealing and
fun for students and audiences. Keys, rhythms and
ranges have been kept within technical limits of
beginning string classes. Accidentals rather than key
signatures are incorporated in the
student parts to assist younger players with note
reading.
Fine Tuning
This collection of 50 short pieces includes chorales,
classical works, and folk tunes. Ideal for
intermediate level ensembles, it improves intonation,
tone and ensemble balance. Fine Tuning is divided into
eight sections, each represented by a major key and
its relative minor. |
